Adult Counseling in McKinney, TX & Online in Texas

Support for when life feels heavy, overwhelming, or like you've been carrying too much for too long.

Who Adult Counseling Is For

This is for you if life has started to feel like a lot—and you're not really sure how to keep carrying it all the same way.

Maybe you're showing up every day, doing what you need to do, but inside you feel anxious, exhausted, or disconnected. Or maybe things look "fine" on the outside, but internally you're overwhelmed, overthinking, or just not feeling like yourself anymore.

This is for you if you've said things like:

  • "I feel like I'm constantly stressed and can't turn my brain off."
  • "I'm overwhelmed, but I still have to keep everything together."
  • "I don't feel like myself lately."
  • "I'm just tired—emotionally, mentally, everything."
  • "I keep trying to fix things, but nothing really changes."

Many adults come in navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship stress, grief, life transitions, or the weight of always being "the strong one" for everyone else.

And sometimes it's not one big thing—it's a buildup. You've been pushing through for a long time, and now it's catching up with you.

This space is for you if you're ready to stop just getting through the days and start understanding what's actually going on underneath what you're feeling.

How We Help

Our Approach to Adult Counseling

We meet you where you are—without judgment, pressure, or needing you to have everything figured out before you start.

Our work is collaborative and grounded in helping you understand what's driving your thoughts, emotions, and patterns—not just managing symptoms on the surface.

We often focus on identifying patterns that keep you stuck, strengthening coping tools that actually fit your life, and helping you feel more emotionally steady and connected to yourself again.

What Sessions Look Like

Sessions are a space where you can slow down and be honest about what's really going on.

We might talk through a stressful week, unpack patterns in relationships, explore anxiety or overthinking, or work through past experiences that still show up in your present.

Some sessions feel reflective. Some feel practical. Most are a mix of both. The pace is guided by you—what feels helpful, what feels overwhelming, and what you're ready to work through.

Our Practice's Expertise in This Area

Our clinicians have experience supporting adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, grief, and major life transitions.

We take a client-centered, trauma-informed approach that focuses on helping you feel more grounded, more self-aware, and more capable of handling life in a way that feels sustainable—not just survivable.

Issues We Address

Anxiety & Overthinking

If your mind feels like it never shuts off, or you constantly replay conversations, worry about the future, or feel on edge, we help you slow the cycle down and regain a sense of control and calm.

Depression & Emotional Numbness

If you feel tired, disconnected, unmotivated, or like you're going through the motions, we help you reconnect with meaning, energy, and emotional presence in your life.

Burnout & Life Overload

For those carrying too much for too long—work, family, emotional labor, caregiving—we help you identify what's unsustainable and build healthier balance and boundaries.

Relationship Stress

Whether it's conflict, disconnection, dating struggles, divorce, or communication issues, we help you understand your patterns in relationships and how to shift them.

Life Transitions

Divorce, breakups, career changes, becoming a parent, or unexpected shifts in life can feel disorienting. We help you find clarity and emotional grounding through change.

What Clients Experience

Clients often begin to:

  • Feel less overwhelmed and more emotionally steady
  • Understand their thoughts and emotional patterns more clearly
  • Set healthier boundaries without guilt
  • Feel more connected to themselves and what they need
  • Experience less internal pressure and self-criticism
  • Move through life transitions with more clarity and confidence

FAQS

Questions You Might Be Carrying

A few things people often wonder before reaching out.
Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy?
No. Many people come in simply feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or wanting support before things get worse.
What if I don't know how to talk about what I'm feeling?
That's okay. Part of therapy is helping you put words to what feels unclear or hard to explain.
Can I do virtual sessions?
Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions for adults anywhere in Texas.
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends on your goals. Some people come for short-term support, others stay longer for deeper work.
Will I just be talking the whole time?
Talking is part of it, but sessions also include reflection, pattern work, and practical tools you can use in daily life.
How do I get started, and do you accept my insurance?
Reach out to schedule your first session—most clients are booked within about a week. We accept Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, Curative, Sana, First Health, UnitedHealthcare, Scott & White, and UMR, offer self-pay rates with a limited sliding scale, and can provide superbills for out-of-network benefits. Meet in person in McKinney or online anywhere in Texas.
What is the difference between an LPC and an LPC-Associate for adult therapy?
An LPC is a fully licensed professional counselor who has completed all state required hours of independent clinical practice. An LPC-Associate is a clinician who has earned their master's degree in counseling and passed their state licensing exam, but is currently completing their final clinical practice hours under the direct supervision of a senior licensed therapist. Both options provide high-quality care, but choosing an LPC-Associate often allows you to secure an appointment much faster or access a more flexible sliding scale fee structure. At our practice, every LPC-Associate receives regular clinical guidance from a board-approved supervisor to ensure you receive excellent support.
Can I use an HSA or FSA card to pay for therapy sessions?
Yes, you can use a Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account card to pay for all adult counseling sessions at our McKinney office or online. Because therapy is considered a qualified medical expense by the IRS, these accounts allow you to pay for your mental health care using pre-tax dollars. We process HSA and FSA cards directly through our secure billing system just like a standard credit card. If your insurance plan requires additional documentation for your account records, we can easily provide you with an itemized medical receipt or a monthly superbill to verify your therapy expenses.
