A Warm Welcome

Hi, I'm Lupe, but I also go by Lupita! I know starting therapy can feel a little intimidating, so my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and able to go at your own pace. We'll take time to get to know each other, explore what's been on your mind, and figure out together what feels most important to focus on.

Why I Do This Work

My interest in becoming a therapist began during college when a professor sparked my curiosity about human behavior and personal growth. I was inspired by the way the professor helped people make sense of their experiences, and it made me want to learn more. My own experience in therapy later reinforced the value of having a safe, nonjudgmental place to reflect and grow. Today, I am passionate about helping clients gain insight, build confidence, and navigate life's ups and downs.

Who I Work With Best

I enjoy working with teens and adults who are trying to make sense of their experiences, better understand themselves, and navigate life's challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they would like to change. I am particularly passionate about helping individuals build confidence, develop coping skills, and navigate life transitions with greater clarity and self-awareness.

How I Work

My Approach

I take a collaborative, person-centered approach to therapy and draw from mindfulness and trauma-informed practices. That means we move at your pace, focus on what feels most important to you, and work together to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns in a supportive space. We'll explore what you're experiencing in a way that feels grounded and manageable, while also building practical ways to cope with stress, increase insight, and create changes that feel realistic for your life.

What a Session Feels Like

Sessions with me are calm, emotionally grounded, and nonjudgmental, where you can simply show up as you are. We'll talk about what's been going on and what you're hoping for, and move in a way that feels right for you.

Areas of Focus

First-Generation & Cultural Identity

I enjoy supporting first-generation individuals who are navigating identity, family expectations, and the process of defining their own path. Together, we explore how cultural and family experiences shape current beliefs and patterns, while building a stronger sense of self and direction.

Life Transitions

I walk alongside clients as they navigate major life changes such as relationships, career shifts, parenthood, or periods of uncertainty. We work together to create clarity, stability, and confidence during times of change.

Self-Esteem & Self-Discovery

I work with individuals who struggle with self-doubt, comparison, or feeling "not enough." My approach focuses on building self-awareness, challenging unhelpful patterns, and cultivating a steady and compassionate sense of self.

Anxiety & Emotional Overwhelm

I work with individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, or struggle with managing stress and emotions. We focus on understanding triggers and developing practical coping strategies to feel more grounded and in control.

Trauma-Informed Approach & Coping Skills

I use a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, pacing, and emotional awareness. Depending on each client's needs, this may include grounding techniques, breathwork, progressive muscle relaxation, and other body-based strategies to support regulation and help clients feel more present in daily life.

A Final Thought

Reaching out can feel like a big step, especially when you're feeling nervous or unsure. You don't need to have everything figured out to start. Therapy is a space where you can take things one step at a time, in a way that feels safe and supportive for you.

FAQS

Questions You Might Be Carrying

A few things people often wonder before reaching out.
What can I expect during the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any questions you may have. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive place where you can share in a way that feels right for you.
How long does therapy usually take?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people come to therapy for guidance through a specific challenge, while others choose to stay longer to work on deeper patterns and personal growth. We'll regularly check in on your goals and what feels most helpful for you.
What if I'm nervous about starting therapy?
Feeling nervous about starting therapy is very common. Many clients come in feeling unsure, anxious, or not knowing exactly what to expect, but they also recognize they want to invest in themselves and make meaningful changes. We'll move in a way that feels at ease for you and focus on helping things feel less overwhelming.
Do I have to talk about things I'm not ready to talk about?
No. Therapy is not about forcing you to discuss anything before you're ready. We'll move at a pace that feels right for you and focus on building trust along the way. Often, as people begin to feel more relaxed and supported, it becomes easier to talk about difficult topics when the time feels right.
Can therapy help me cope with stress?
Yes. Stress can show up in many ways, including feeling overwhelmed, irritable, stuck, disconnected, or having difficulty slowing your mind down. In therapy, we'll work together to better understand what's contributing to your stress and develop practical strategies that help you feel more regulated, balanced, and equipped to navigate life's challenges.
