Who This Group Is For
This group is for Black women who are:
- Navigating complicated relationships with their mother or maternal figures
- Grieving the nurturing, protection, or emotional support they never received
- Healing from childhood emotional wounds
- Working to break generational cycles
- Learning to establish healthy boundaries
- Seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their family story
Whether your relationship with your mother is close, strained, distant, or no longer possible, your experience belongs here.
What We'll Explore
Throughout this six-week journey, we'll discuss:
- Mother-daughter relationship dynamics
- Identity and self-worth
- Generational trauma and resilience
- Boundaries without guilt
- Grief and acceptance
- Anger and emotional healing
- Forgiveness, when and if it feels appropriate
- Reclaiming your voice and redefining yourself
This group honors the unique cultural experiences of Black women while creating space for honest conversation, vulnerability, and growth.
What Makes This Group Different
You won't have to explain your lived experience. This group is intentionally designed to provide culturally responsive care where your identity, experiences, and emotions are welcomed and understood. Together we'll create a supportive environment built on empathy, confidentiality, and authentic connection.
What to Expect in a Group Session
The First Session
The first session is intentionally gentle. You are not expected to share your deepest story right away. We walk through introductions, group agreements, and expectations, and give you space to observe, listen, and ease in.
A Typical Session
Sessions usually begin with a check-in, move into the focus or theme of the week, and end with reflection or grounding. You can expect 60 to 90 minutes of guided conversation, shared experiences, and facilitator support.
Group Size
Groups are intentionally small, typically 6 to 10 members, so that everyone has space to be heard without feeling lost in the room.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is essential. What is shared in group stays in group. Every member agrees to this before joining so trust can actually exist.
Logistics & Investment
- Format: Closed cohort group
- Length: 6 weeks, meeting weekly
- Location: Virtual across Texas

Healing Happens Together
Your relationship with your mother does not have to define the rest of your life. Healing doesn't erase the past, but it can change your future. If you're ready to begin that journey alongside other women who understand, we'd love to welcome you into Daughters Talk.
