Helping men trade carrying it all alone for a life of real purpose.
Collin Brower, LPC-Associate, men's therapist at The Desired Journey in McKinney, TX

Welcome.

If you've found your way here, there's a good chance you're carrying more than you've let others see. Many men spend years feeling the pressure to have all the answers while quietly searching for greater purpose, stronger relationships, and a life that feels meaningful. You don't have to figure it all out alone. My hope is that you'll find a place here where you can be honest, challenged, and supported as you build a life that reflects who you truly want to be.

Why I Do This Work

I began working in the mental health field during the height of the pandemic. During that time, I had the opportunity to see many people who felt lost and empty turn their lives around. I believe that there is more for all of us—as long as we have the courage to look for it.

Who I Work With Best

I specialize in working with men who feel as if they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. So much of my work is helping men see that we don't have to carry that weight alone—that there's real strength in slowing down, being honest, and building a life that reflects what actually matters to you.

My Approach

I'm well versed in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and I use elements of both as tools toward positive change. But I see therapy through a very existential lens—I want to know what in your life gives you meaning and purpose.

What a Session Feels Like

A session with me feels very much like a team sport: you and I working together to figure out the best way forward. Therapy isn't about fixing who you are—it's about understanding yourself more clearly and building the life you want to live. We'll have honest conversations, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and focus on developing the confidence, resilience, and direction needed to move toward a life of purpose. I want our work together to be practical, meaningful, and grounded in real change that carries into your relationships, your work, and your everyday life./

Areas of Focus

Men's Issues

Being a man today can come with unique pressures: providing for others, managing expectations, navigating relationships, and trying to find purpose while carrying responsibilities. Many men are taught to push through challenges alone, often at the expense of their own well-being. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what's weighing on you, and build the confidence to move forward with intention. Together, we'll work toward helping you become the man you want to be—not by changing who you are, but by living more fully in line with your values.

Addiction & Recovery

Recovery is about more than simply stopping the use of alcohol or drugs—it's about building a life that no longer revolves around them. Whether you're early in recovery, returning after a relapse, or trying to understand your relationship with substances, therapy can provide support, accountability, and practical tools for lasting change. We'll work together to identify the patterns that keep you stuck, strengthen healthy coping strategies, and create a life that feels meaningful enough to protect your sobriety. Recovery isn't just about avoiding relapse; it's about rediscovering purpose.

Life Transitions

Life doesn't always unfold the way we expect. A new career, marriage, divorce, becoming a parent, loss, relocation, or simply feeling like you're entering a new chapter can leave you questioning what's next. These transitions often bring uncertainty, but they also create opportunities for growth. Together, we'll navigate change with clarity and purpose, helping you adapt while staying grounded in the values and goals that matter most to you.

A Final Thought

Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness—it's often the first step toward becoming the person you want to be.

FAQS

Questions You Might Be Carrying

A few things people often wonder before reaching out.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! I offer free 15-minute consultations so you can ask any questions you have about the therapeutic process and see whether we're a good fit.
What if I don't know what's wrong?
That's okay! Many people begin therapy because they know something doesn't feel right but can't quite put it into words. You don't need to have everything figured out before your first session—that's part of what we'll do together.
Do I have to talk about things I'm not ready to discuss?
No. Trust is built over time, and therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be honest at your own pace. I may gently challenge you or encourage you to explore difficult topics, but you'll never be forced to talk about something before you're ready. My role is to help you grow—not to push you faster than you're prepared to go.
Do you only work with men?
Men are the heart of my work—especially men navigating purpose, relationships, responsibility, and recovery—but I also support clients through addiction and recovery and big life transitions. If you're wondering whether we'd be a good fit, reach out and we'll talk it through.
What's the first step to working together?
The easiest first step is a free 15-minute consultation. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and we'll figure out the best way forward together—in McKinney or online anywhere in Texas. No pressure to commit before you're ready.
